Translation of the Opening Lines of Tristan und Isolde

This is a rhyming translation of the opening lines to Richard Wagner's Tristan und Isolde; these lines are also quoted in the first part of T.S. Eliot's "The Waste-Land."

 

Frisch weht der Wind

The wind, fresh and wild

der Heimat zu:

strikes homeward now;

mein irisch Kind,

My Irish child,

wo weilest du?

where dwellest thou?
